On this page, you will find information related to state specific legislation that deals with mechanical insulation and labor, Political Action Committee (PAC) guidelines and information for the state’s federally elected officials.
Iowa has 50 Senators and 100 House members.
To qualify to run for the Iowa Senate, you must be at least 25 years of age, a U.S. citizen, been a resident of Iowa for at least one year prior to the election and has resided in the district for at least 60 days.
The requirements for the House is the same except the age. You only need to be 21 years of age to run for the House.
Members of the Senate serve four-year terms and members of the House serve two-year terms. There are no term limits in Iowa.
The legislative session begins at 10 a.m. on the second Monday in January. In odd numbered years, the session runs 110 days. In even number years, the session lasts 100 days.
The Republicans control both chambers.
