In order to get much needed results for those working in the mechanical insulation industry, the Mechanical Insulators Labor Management Cooperative Trust (LMCT) was established to advance the industry of mechanical insulation. The LMCT is politically active in order to influence those who make decisions, which affect our industry.
There are a number of situations in which the Mechanical Insulators LMCT will advocate for or resist a political change.
The Mechanical Insulators LMCT combats So-Called “Right to Work” legislation at the state and federal levels to represent the best interest of labor and the building and construction industries. This legislation puts those working in the mechanical insulation industry at risk. This legislation allows apprenticeship programs to be instituted, which are subpar to the already existing Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
Throughout the years, our industry has evolved, as materials once considered industry standard have been pushed out for newer, safer materials. In order to get these antiquated materials out of our industry, legislative change is typically needed.
Through political activism, the Mechanical Insulators LMCT has helped the mechanical insulation industry fight for better working conditions and standards, which help them continue to provide for their families.
